Authentication of the app with the server

To display the overlay on the map, the «tile server for hazard map tiles» is queried, depending on the maps detail view. For security reasons, the app uses an encrypted connection to contact the tile-server (see «data transfer») and authenticates itself with each request using an unique token which is bound to the device making the request. The app requests and is assigned an authentication token, the first time it is started. When this authentication token is provided by, the server stores the following information:

  • The manufacturer-specific device ID
  • IP address
  • Operating system name (e.g. iOS)
  • System version
  • Device model (e.g. iPhone)
  • Number of requests
  • Date and time of last request

The server also keeps a log of all requests from the card tiles displayed in the app overlay (see next section).

Protokolldatei

When the app accesses the server to request card tiles, our provider automatically saves information in so-called server log files. These are:

  • IP address
  • Time of the server request
  • UURL identifying the map tile retrieved

These data cannot be directly assigned to specific persons. This data is not merged with other data sources. This usage data forms the basis for statistical, anonymous evaluations, so that trends can be identified, on the basis of which we can improve our services accordingly. We also reserve the right to subsequently check this data if we become aware of concrete indications of illegal use.

The log files and all data of this tile-server are stored by the hosting provider Metanet AG, Josefstrasse 218, 8005 Zurich and their data protection declarations apply. In cooperation with our hosting provider, we endeavour to protect the protocols and the databases used as best as possible against unauthorised access, loss, misuse or falsification.
